Why I'm Running
What does it take to make the average person drop his daily life and decide to put it all on the line, and run for public office? I can only speak for myself, but it literally took an act of Congress.
Being a retired fireman/paramedic, businessman, and avid sportsman, I was content to retire, raise my family, and enjoy the many benefits that living in north Florida provides. Unfortunately, the impossible happened; the United States Congress forgot the will of the People and became responsible only to itself and to an administration. Then the administration and Congress started leveraging its "power" against the People, the economy, and the U.S. Constitution. To have Health Care and Cap & Trade legislation shoved down our throats, against the will of the majority of the People, is inexcusable.
Given this very short history, just project with me a bit. If they do not listen to us on these major issues, how long until they take aim at the 2nd Amendment? This is one of their all-time favorite hit-list items, and make no mistake, the placement of Sonia Sotomayor on the Supreme Court was no accident. Remember that she already ruled against the 2nd Amendment when she was on a lower court. Thomas Jefferson was very clear that a government out of control would have to disarm the people. Chicago has already been disarmed, literally. What city or state could be next?
Being a father, I could not allow these "power grabs" to continue without doing something about it. I decided to enter the race for U.S. House of Representatives in Florida's District 2; the seat currently held by Allen Boyd. For one, my children deserve the country that I inherited from my forefathers. Secondly, we owe a debt to generations not yet born, and a debt to those who came before us for the sacrifices they made. The current administration and Congress are trampling all over those sacrifices, and burdening our children with monetary debts previously unheard of. Those are not the kind of "debts" I want to leave, nor do I want my children to owe.
Among other philosophies, I believe that if the People truly had their say, they would not allow the government to go against the Constitution. I have a plan to give the people back their say in this office. It is called Project: First Week, and it literally gives the power back to the People.
In closing, I have found that conservatives come in many different forms. They are called Republicans, Independents (NPA in Florida), Third Party, and yes, even Democrats. But they all want the same thing for our children and our country.
I plan to unite members of the different parties, and bring conservative values to District 2 that have long been absent. By doing so, we can bring a check and balance system back to the floor of Congress that, in its absence, has led to countless abuses by an ever-encroaching federal government.

When the government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny.
Very well said. I've been following your website and look forward to reading more in the future.
A breath of fresh air! Loved the aricle today in the Democrat. Good luck!

This is the first I'm hearing of it - but I have signed similar pledges. I am a 912 Candidate, and am currently preparing answers for the questions Hannity has put forth to candidates.
