Splitting the Vote?
Why have you chosen to run as an independent candidate?
Party doctrine got us into the situation we're in. The fact that legislation is being passed to meet party needs instead of the needs of the People or the Country is inexcusable.
What's the advantage of voting for an independent candidate?
An independent representative has the ability to represent the interests and needs of the People without the dictates of party intervention. You're voting for me as an individual and my platform instead of a generalized group platform.
If I vote for you, won't it "split the vote"?
Yes. I will split the conservative Republican ticket. I will also split the conservative Democratic ticket (remember, Boyd is a "blue dog" Democrat). And, I will carry the votes of the large Independent voting base in District 2 who left their respective parties for the same reasons I did.
We have voting records archived as far back as 1877. And in the past 133 years, a Republican candidate has never won in District 2. When one former Congressman switched to the Republican party while in office - he lost his reelection bid.
Our District is conservative, but conservative Democrats will not vote for a Republican candidate. They will feel comfortable voting for an independent candidate, and conservative independents and Republicans will do the same.
Principles Above Party.
