St. George Island Chili Cook-Off

By Paul McKain, on Mar 7, 2010

I participated in the 28th annual Chili Cook-Off on St. George Island yesterday, and it was a fantastic event.  We met so many engaged and informed voters, and had a good time to boot.

My green chili placed 16th out of 60 participants - only the top 15 are considered finalists for further judging, but I'm happy with how we did, and glad to have met so many of you yesterday.

And best of all, the whole event benefited the volunteer fire department.

Terrorist Rights

By Paul McKain, on Mar 2, 2010

There has been some discourse about the fact that I have not addressed the issue of terrorist rights and “torture” of captured terrorists (not detainees). I will attempt to clear the air.

War is Hell. It is for this reason that we should not engage in its practice unless adequately prompted and agreed upon in the proper manner. When we are moved to war, the rule book should be thrown out the door, with the exception of the Geneva Convention.

Why I'm Running

By Paul McKain, on Feb 23, 2010

A Snow Day for Congress

By Paul McKain, on Feb 11, 2010

It all started as a joke.

No, I'm not referring to Congress, because it had a very righteous beginning. (It sadly only turned into a joke over the past few decades.) I am referring a comment between my staff members that we as taxpayers must be saving a fortune by having the federal government shut down due to the global-warming-induced blizzard that has shut down most of the Northeast.
